What is Experiment PDX?
This is Experiment…
Portland’s new arts and sciences event & workshops venue. Located in Inner SE Portland,
You may be asking (of course you’re asking, you curious human, you!)…
How is Experiment unique?
Our events and programming - spanning a world of themes, topics, and experiences - provide fun for ALL age groups - from cherubic toddlers, slapping their hands into a finger-painting masterpiece, to grown ups, smearing swirly colors into abstract art and inevitably getting paint on our pint glasses!

Summer Camp – and Other Fun - at Experiment!
School’s out for summer, but the fun is just beginning at Experiment! We are excited to debut this summer as a brand new feature in Portland’s creative, curious, and educational community. Experiment is offering a bunch of educational experiences for those small humans with the most time on their hands: your child-age kids and ‘tweens.
Meet, or reintroduce yourself, to our favorite acronym:
STEAM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math

Camps are week-long, half-day morning and afternoon sessions. Looking for full-day camps to fit your family’s schedule? Our mixed-and-matched camp schedule is crafted to offer two unique back-to-back AM/PM camps for the same age group. Pack a lunch for your child and Experiment staff will be there to supervise, lead games and activities, and facilitate drop-off and pick-up transitions.
Our summer 2022 offerings include multiple STEAM camps for the science-curious and the art-intrigued!

Lego Learning
Our favorite, familiar building pieces updated with motors, motion sensors, and introduction to coding! This Lego Education curriculum teaches concepts related to math, engineering, and computer science while also fostering social-emotional development, creative problem solving, and teamwork.

Curious Colors
An exploration into the science of color and art of light. Science experiments and thinking skills will inform art projects in the use of color theory and optical illusions in art. Mad Science - We are partnering with Portland’s long-established STEM partner to offer a collection of science exploration camps. From topics of inventing to archaeology, there is an exciting STEM experience for any young scientist.

Jr. Da Vinci (full-day camp)
An art camp focused on drawing fundamentals from the Renascence to today! Your budding master-artist will learn timeless techniques and explore different art media from perspective drawing to 3-D media. Campers will come home with their own sketchbook and masterpiece project at the end of the week.

In the Garden
Co-hosted with Mad Science & Portland Insectarium! For your tiny, budding scientists (entering-K thru 1st grade). Let’s dig in the dirt, learn how plants grow, and explore introductory ecosystems concepts all about the everyday natural world around us.

And grown-ups, don’t feel left out!
One of our core beliefs at Experiment is that grown-ups like to have fun with science, art, and general nerdyness too! Some evening 21+ events will be ‘extensions’ of the summer camps activities, while others will be completely different. To give you an idea…we have already hosted classes in flower bouquet sculpting, weekly Drink & Draws, and an investigative wine+dark chocolate tasting… pretty neat, huh?)
At Experiment we know that being a scientist doesn’t just mean wearing a lab coat! Our vision is to inspire your kiddos through hands-on play and exploration about the everyday world around them.
Come experiment with us this summer!
