About the event
Join scientific artist Shelly Smith, also known as Studio Cornix, for a totally new installment of the popular Algae Happy Hour series. During this event we’ll explore the fascinating scientific and cultural history of blue foods, including cutting edge superfoods, ancient blue food sources, and just why the heck blue raspberry exists. We’ll listen to a short lecture, view these amazing organisms under the microscope, and enjoy snacks and drinks made with a variety of blue pigments.
Each ticket gets you a variety of vegan blue snacks and 3 cocktails. Your cocktails will come with a mini science kit of blue pigments, acids, and bases to mix your own custom blue colors. Alcohol-free cocktail versions will also be available.
Attendees will have plenty of time to chat about blue, explore the interactive Experiment PDX science museum, and check out the Zymoglyphic Museum as a Muse art exhibition.
